About Curtis Visuals-Adventure and Lifestyle Photography

I am a professional adventure, travel, and lifestyle photographer.

Living in NYC and working for EDS as a computer field engineer covering Manhattan and Newark airport for American Airlines on 9/11 created a paradigm shift in my thinking.  It forced me to evaluate what I was doing with my life and demonstrated quite forcefully that you must pursue your passions, not waiting until "someday" arrived.
My passions are my family, travel, adventure sports, photography, and medicine.  In January of 2009 the opportunity presented itself to leave my position as a senior project manager at HP, allowing me to complete my bachelors degree in biology at SUNY Cortland.  Little did I know that in one 24 hour period I would have another of those defining life moments. I ended my career of 9 years, turned 40, and lost one of my partners on the ambulance service were I work part time as a Paramedic to a gunshot wound inflicted by his patient.  Following this emotional day I spent the next year and a half completing my bachelors degree and determining that what I wanted do in the next chapter of my life.
My decision was to spend it documenting and telling the stories of people embracing their passions in the great outdoors.   I have found that the world is full of amazing people and places whose stories have yet to be told.  A career spent bringing those stories to the world fit with my goals in life.
I am fortunate to have an amazing family who all embrace their own passions and support me to the fullest in pursuing mine.
I began my full time photography career in June of 2011 after years of photographing subjects from weddings, landscapes, news and sports on a part time basis.
I am a member of ASMP and recently began working on the Western NY chapter's web and social media committee.
I am available for assignments globally.
